Terms & posting rules

By using List48, including browsing, posting a listing, opening a store or ordering prints, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Your responsibility

You're responsible for your listing and for any sale, rental, service or event it promotes. List48 hosts and indexes listings people create, but is not a party to any transaction and doesn't verify what posters claim.

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to post a listing, open a store or place an order. You agree to give accurate information, to post only things you have the right to sell, rent or offer, and to follow all laws that apply to you and your listing.

What can't be posted

Illegal goods or services, weapons or ammunition sales, drugs, sexual services or explicit content, stolen or counterfeit goods, scams and "guaranteed return" investment offers, malware or phishing, hate or extremist content, animals for sale, and anything that unlawfully discriminates in housing or hiring. "List anything" means anything lawful that follows these rules.

Housing listings can't state a preference or limit based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, familial status, disability or source of income. Job listings can't state a preference based on age, sex, race, religion, national origin or disability. Describe the home or the job instead.

Automated safety checks

Every listing is screened automatically for spam, repeated content, shortened or excessive links, prohibited content and abusive posting patterns. Your email must be confirmed before a listing goes live, new posters have lower daily limits, and a quick security check may be required. Listings that fail are not published; you'll see the general reason and can edit and try again.

Reports

Anyone can report a public listing from its page. Reports are combined with the automated checks. Several independent reports can pause a listing automatically; the owner can edit it, and a clean edit restores it.

The List48 Board

Live listings appear on the List48 Board and in its search unless the owner turns that off, or the listing is sold, archived, paused or blocked by safety checks. Every listing keeps its own link either way. Browse and search pages may show clearly labeled sponsored spots and advertising; your own listing page never shows other advertisers' listings.

List48 may edit, refuse, pause or remove any listing, store or account, at any time and for any reason, with or without notice, including to comply with the law or protect users. We aren't obligated to review listings and don't guarantee that every listing breaking these rules will be caught.

Business stores

Store pages show products copied from a business's own website with that business's permission, and are updated automatically about once a day. Prices, stock and details may lag behind the business's website; the business's own website and checkout are what count. Purchases made through "Buy online" happen on the business's website, under its terms, and List48 is not the seller. Businesses are responsible for their products, prices, descriptions and customer service, and can ask to remove their store at any time.

Disclaimers

List48 is a venue, not a party to any transaction. We don't own, sell, inspect, verify, endorse or guarantee any item, property, vehicle, job, service, event, store or person listed on the site. We don't screen posters, buyers or renters, and we don't check that listings are accurate, legal, safe or available. Any deal is solely between the people involved, and you use listings and contact other users at your own risk.

The site, listings, search results, distance estimates, maps, synced store data and any AI-written drafts or automated checks are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy or uninterrupted, error-free or secure operation. We don't promise that any listing will get views, contacts or sales, or that the site, your listing, its link or its QR code will always be available.

Links to other websites, including store websites, sponsors, advertisers and partner resources, are provided for convenience. We don't control and aren't responsible for their content, products, privacy practices or terms. Sponsored spots and partner links are advertising and are not endorsements.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, List48 and its owners, employees and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the site, any listing or store, any transaction or dispute between users, any content posted by others, or any interruption, error, deletion or security incident, even if we were told such damages were possible.

Our total liability for any claim related to the site is limited to the greater of the amount you paid List48 in the 12 months before the claim or $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless List48 from any claims, losses, damages and costs (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your listings, your store, your content, your transactions with others, or your breach of these terms or the law.

If you have a dispute with another user, you release List48 from claims and damages of every kind arising from that dispute.

Your content

Messages sent through a listing open a private conversation page between the buyer and the seller. We email each side a link when there's a new message; neither side sees the other's email address unless they choose to share contact details in the conversation. The first time an email address sends a message, we ask it to confirm by email. We may hold, filter or refuse messages that look like spam or scams. Either side can end a conversation or report it, sellers can block a sender from messaging any listing, and we may review a conversation that's reported. Never send payment before you've seen the item, and never share a verification code someone texts you.

“Seller says” details (like smoke-free or pet-free) and everything on a seller page except its badges are written by the seller. List48 doesn't check them, so ask questions before you buy. Badges such as “Email verified” and “marked sold” come from our records. Seller pages are optional and can be turned off anytime; listings you mark sold may stay in your sold history (title, price, date and one small photo) until you hide them or delete your account.

You keep ownership of the text and photos you post. You give List48 a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, display, resize, format and share your content to run and promote the site, including in search results, store pages, share images, QR codes and printed products you order. The license ends when your content is deleted, except for copies already shared or kept in backups for a limited time.

If you check “Feature my listing,” you also allow List48 to share your listing's photos, headline, price and town in its own social media posts, short videos and promotions (never your phone, email or street address). You can turn this off anytime by editing your listing; posts already shared may stay up.

You confirm you own or have permission to use everything you post, and that it doesn't infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights. If you believe content on List48 infringes your copyright or trademark, send us a message through the contact form with the page link, a description of your work, your contact details, and a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use isn't authorized. We'll remove infringing content and may close the accounts of repeat infringers.

You may not scrape, copy or resell listings in bulk, interfere with the site's operation or security, get around posting limits or safety checks, or use the site to send spam or collect other users' contact information.

Buying and selling safely

• Meet in a public, well-lit place, bring someone along, and tell a friend where you're going.
• Inspect items, vehicles and rentals in person before paying. See the title and ID for vehicles; don't rent a home you haven't toured.
• Be cautious with wire transfers, gift cards, cryptocurrency, overpayments, "shipping agents" and anyone who won't meet or talk by phone.
• Never share bank logins, verification codes or more personal information than a deal needs.
• If something seems wrong, walk away and report the listing. For crimes or emergencies, contact local police.

Your data

Your email is used for confirmation, your manage link, receipts and notices about your listing. Payments are handled by a secure payment processor; we never see your card number. Photos are stored with our storage provider and deleted when your listing is deleted. Abuse-prevention records store hashed identifiers and counters, not raw emails or IP addresses. Conversation messages are stored so both sides can read them, and are deleted 30 days after the listing comes down, or after 180 days without new messages.

We don't sell your personal information. We may share information when required by law, to respond to legal requests, or to protect the safety of users or the public.

General terms

Accounts and termination. You're responsible for keeping your email and manage links private. You can delete your listings at any time. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive, including the disclaimers, limits of liability, indemnity and governing law, remain in effect afterward.

Payments. Paid plans, stores and print orders are charged as shown at checkout. Paid plans renew until you cancel, and cancelling stops future charges. Except where required by law or described above for damaged or misprinted prints, payments are non-refundable.

Changes. We may update the site, its features, its prices or these terms at any time. The date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it. We'll give notice by email or on the site for significant changes that affect paid features.

Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled only in the state or federal courts located in Spokane County, Washington, and you agree to their jurisdiction. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us first and try to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.

Everything else. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't waived it. These terms, together with any terms shown at checkout, are the whole agreement between you and List48 about the site. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours as part of a sale or reorganization of the business.
